We had such a great time spending the weekend with my mom and aunt who came to visit from Chicago. I’m sad they’re gone already!
We showed them around town, went to the lake, had breakfast at The Pfunky Griddle, had a bonfire in the back yard, and went to a pumpkin patch. Grandma even babysat on Saturday night so Mamma and Pappa Rodriguez could have their first date night since having the baby!
Saturday morning, they took Rue shopping without me so I could run some errands and take a much needed lavender bath.
I was anxious about leaving her for the first time, but I got used to it about an hour in. I’m thankful she got to spend some quality time with her grandma alone. Rue was a little hesitant to play with grandma at first because she was so little when we moved that I think she almost didn’t recognize my mom. She definitely knows her voice, so once they started playing, she was totally comfortable and eating it up!
Mom and Linda worked so hard to keep her awake until 8 pm and I’m glad they did because she slept through the night perfectly for them and Marty and I didn’t get a single call while we were out.
It was hard leaving her that night, but just as I was about to walk out the door, she rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time. I was so thrilled that Mom and Linda got to see one of her “firsts” in real life that my anxiety of leaving Rue for the night completely washed away.
We had an amazing time at the pumpkin patch on Sunday. Rue’s too young yet to fully enjoy everything Walden Farms has to offer, but we had a great time showing her all the animals, getting her “face painted” (she got a couple “tattoos” on her legs), and going through all of the baby friendly activities.
She was completely tuckered out by the end of it.
Last year on Halloween, we announced that we were pregnant so this time of year will always be special to me. I hope we can create a family tradition of going to pumpkin patches with her grandmas every year to celebrate the season and I can’t wait for my mom’s next visit so we can all have some new family “firsts” together!
