Rue’s First Christmas

It’s a little late, but here’s my little diddy on Rue’s…

We had a great time visiting all of our friends and family in Chicago over the Christmas holiday!

Rue did amazing on the airplane there and back. She wouldn’t let me wear her in the Ergo, and was trying to love on the passengers next to us, but she didn’t cry at all. She was talking up a storm on the way there, but no one seemed to mind. Our flight back was supposed to be at 8 pm, but it was delayed an hour and a half, so she slept on my chest the entire flight home. I’m so glad it’s such a quick flight!

The night before we left for Chicago, Rue started crawling! In the week we were there, she started clapping her hands, dancing, and walking the furniture. The night we got home, she finally pulled herself up into a stand. Something she had been trying to do for a couple of months!

So it was definitely a wonderful week for all of us! I’m so glad she had a few “firsts” for all of the family to see.

She had fun opening presents, but she was more interested in playing with the wrapping paper than any of the toys. She loved all of the attention and affection she received from all of her extended family, and misses them all already!

If we didn’t get to see you, we hope to at Rue’s 1st birthday party in May!

All in all, it was an eventful, exciting, yet exhausting week. I’m so fortunate that we were able to go. It was a memory I will cherish forever. It was so hard to leave, but at the same time, I was excited to get back to my own space and sleep next to Mr. Rodriguez again. I missed him so much! I wish he could have been there with us.

I must say, it’s hard mothering with a ton of family around. Rue didn’t eat or sleep as much as she normally does. She was in great spirits regardless, but she definitely got caught up in all the stimulation. My favorite moments from the trip were those few and far between that we spent alone. Nursing her, rocking her to sleep, bathing her, etc. I guess I’m just so used to it being just her and I most days, I kind of missed that.

My mom is such an angel, she’s driving all the way to Nashville next week to deliver all of Rue’s presents and visit us for the weekend. I can’t wait!

I took a billion pictures, so here’s our photo recap:

I hope everyone had a great holiday with their loved ones, and that all the Baby’s 1st Christmases out there were special!
